President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued an executive order for the government-wide adoption of a national cybersecurity plan as hacking incidents involving public websites continue to rise.
The National Cybersecurity Plan (NCSP) 2023-2028 stated in Executive Order No. 58 was recommended by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The EO mandates all government agencies and local government units to formulate, adopt and implement cybersecurity plans in accordance with the NCSP.
“It is imperative for all concerned national government agencies and instrumentalities, and local government units, to support and cooperate towards the successful implementation of the NCSP 2023-2028,” the EO read.
The DICT is required to submit to the President a biannual report on the status and progress of the NCSP’s implementation.
